Meanwhile, the on-going story published here is not quite finished. I still have to see the medical oncologist next week and get my marching orders, but I am transitioning. - I wrote the blog, "Merely A Detour," in the months following my diagnosis of breast cancer. It's my story, but it could be yours, or your wife’s, or your mother’s, or your daughter’s. You probably know a woman with breast cancer. If you can’t think of anyone, ask a friend, and he or she will know someone. It’s everywhere. We all have to take action. Even a small act is a good start. Donate to more research. Do a self-exam. Get your annual check-up. Fund-raise for better prevention and screening. Call a friend and prod her into action. After months of treatment, I'm just getting my life back on track, and I'm writing a new blog as I go. (www.eatingmygarden.blogspot.com) The first blog chronicled an unexpected setback, and the next is about moving on. Whichever blog you're reading, the underlying theme is the same: It's not the obstacle, but how you deal with it, that matters.
